Dutch Documentary "Chains" Features, Charles Niece. Glimpse into situation of Migrant Workers in AI Global Supply Chain

In the program "Chains" (Dutch: Ketens), a co-production between HUMAN and Omroep ZWART, presenter Natasja Gibbs takes viewers to countries where the real price of our lifestyle is exposed. These are not distant problems, but realities that affect us all. The program examines what effects does our consumption behavior have on the people who make our products? Who pays the price for our convenience. In four episodes, "Chains" delves into the production chains of products we use every day.

Episode 3: AI

ChatGPT, we know it or have used it at some point. In Taiwan, Natasja and her correspondent discover how migrant workers who produce chips on which AI runs are treated.


Charles shows the correspondent photos of dormitories and explains the living conditions to which migrant workers endure. Mold on the walls, curfews, overcrowded and cramped rooms, as well as factory where worker eat on the floor, Charles continues to amplify the experience of migrant workers with evidence shared by workers themselves.
